Hall of Fame Trainer : Emanuel Steward

Emanuel Steward passed away on 25 October 2012 at the age of 68. Who doesn't know about him? Steward certainly was an outstanding world class trainer. He had brought out many world champion, exactly 41 world champion such as Lenox Lewis, Oscar De La Hoya, Wladimir Klitschko. He was a very kind trainer, popular and smart. He had a big passion, knowledge and experience in boxing. He was very discipline and decisive when trained boxer. He distributed all the time in boxing. And what he brought in this sport was something worth like evolution in boxing I think.

For my part, I am deeply saddened by the loss of Emanuel. I was fortunate enough to be watch his wisdom through the night. From his performance, I can say without hesitation that he is the kindest man in the industry I have ever met, always eager to help and enthusiastic to share his views and insight. With his rich experience at the highest level, and his detailed methods of providing opinions, recalling past events, and telling stories, it was always very interesting to hear what he had to say. He was the one person in boxing who always made me feel as if I was involved in something special when we spoke. He was a great inspiration for me personally.

Among the world champions who have trained behind Steward's guidance in their career are:
Dennis Andries, Wilfred Benítez, Julio César Chávez, Kermit Cintron, Miguel Cotto, Chad Dawson, Oscar De La Hoya, Domonique Dolton, Naseem Hamed, Thomas Hearns, Evander Holyfield, John David Jackson, Hilmer Kenty, Ole Klemetsen, Wladimir Klitschko, Lennox Lewis, Michael Moorer, Oliver McCall, Mike McCallum, Milton McCrory, Steve McCrory, Gerald McClellan, Miguel Angel Gonzalez, Jimmy Paul, Graciano Rocchigiani, Jermain Taylor, Duane Thomas, James Toney, Yuriorkis Gamboa, William "Caveman" Lee.

I have a ton of respect for this man. May his soul rest in peace. Thank you for the many years you gave the sport. Your memory and what you gave to the sport will ensure that you live on.
